Holocaust Memorial Day Reflections
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, which this year marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz - a horror which should never be repeated.
It was an honour to sign the Westminster Book of Commitment, to take part in the Testimony 360 exhibition, and to attend a service yesterday in Milton Keynes where we contemplated how we can build a better future.
'For a better future' is the overarching theme of this years' Holocaust Memorial Day, and I share the sentiments that we can and should challenge prejudice, as well as encourage others to learn about the Holocaust and more recent genocides.
We still have over 1,000 survivors in the UK, but they won’t be here forever. It is vital we do all we can to ensure that their memories live on.
There are other things that I could cover in this week’s editorial, but it doesn’t feel like the right thing to do. I hope every reader finds the time today to think about what we can learn from the past, and what we never want to be repeated again.
