Standing up for your priorities
Before and after the election, I have been speaking to voters, trade unionists, farmers, businesses, and civil society leaders from across Buckingham, Bletchley, Tattenhoe, Winslow and the surrounding villages to understand people’s concerns.
People have told me they want a fresh start, and I have listened. As your Labour MP, I’ll stand up for your priorities to fresh hope, fresh opportunities and importantly, a fresh start.
-
Boost household incomes
Wages flatlined under the Conservatives. As someone with financial services experience, I recognise the importance of enabling local businesses to access finance for growth, innovation, and job creation. I'm also a dedicated trade unionist, who strongly believes in the need for responsible business practices, such as proper living wages and decent working conditions.
The incoming East-West Rail line will place Winslow, Buckingham and Bletchley right at the heart of the Oxford-Cambridge arc: an area which has the potential to become a world-leading and globally renowned centre for business. I will work tirelessly to make sure families in our towns and villages see the benefits and get the opportunities those links will bring.
As your MP, I will:
· Fight for stronger workers’ rights - including banning fire and rehire, establishing Fair Pay Agreements and extending statutory maternity and paternity leave.
· Set up an Investment Taskforce, bringing together local employers, the South Central Institute of Technology and civil society. This Taskforce will aim to to attract the new businesses, jobs and apprenticeships so that Bletchley can fully realise the promise of its Town Deal.
· Campaign for business rates reform, so that we properly support the small businesses, village pubs and independent shops that give life to Buckingham High Street, Winslow High Street, Bletchley’s Queensway, Fenny Stratford High Street and our villages.
-
Tackle the cost of living
The Tory cost of living crisis has affected working people across Buckingham and Bletchley. I've regularly come across families struggling to meet the soaring costs of housing, energy and food.
Our Labour Government will end the cycle of higher prices, higher interest rates and higher taxes - and will put money back into the pockets of hardworking people and their families.
As your MP, I will:
· Champion an industrial strategy that delivers investment in renewable energy sources like solar, wind and biomass, so that we keep energy bills low for good.
· Campaign for planning reform and the cash that councils need to build more homes — so that every family has the security of a genuinely affordable and environmentally sustainable home.
· Convene local farmers, food manufacturers and retailers to agree measures that tackle local food insecurity and reduce the weekly food bill for families.
-
Repair our local NHS
Getting a GP or dental appointment has never been harder. Waiting lists remain far too long. The Buckinghamshire Conservative Council is still dragging its heels over Buckingham’s medical centre ten years after it was first announced, while the Government refuses funding for a Bletchley health hub.
Only Labour can be trusted to ensure our health services are well-funded, patient-focused and based at the heart our communities. Our NHS needs the right support to prioritise prevention, deliver world-leading care and help people to live healthier for longer.
As your MP, I will:
· Campaign for a comprehensive NHS workforce plan that ensures we have enough GPs, nurses, midwives and dentists to serve our local communities.
· Fight for new health hubs in both Buckingham and Bletchley to support earlier diagnoses, boost prevention and relieve pressure on our hospitals.
· Support our young people as they grow up by ensuring the Buckinghamshire CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) gets the funding it needs to work more closely with our schools.
-
A brighter future for every child
Backed by record investment during the last Labour Government, teachers in my state comprehensives enable council flat kids like me to learn, be curious about the world, and explore how I could help make it a better place.
As a school governor in one of Britain’s poorest areas, I’ve seen the Tories turn a top-class education into a postcode lottery. Only a Labour Government will unleash the talents of every child regardless of background.
As your MP, I will:
· Campaign for a fair school funding settlement which enables children in every corner of the constituency to attend a good local school regardless of postcode.
· Fight for better, faster support for children with special educational needs and disabilities - with a focus on those requiring speech, communication and occupational therapy.
· Campaign to deliver affordable, high-quality childcare, so that parents don't have to choose whether or not stay at home or work.
-
Better, cleaner and greener transport
Getting round Buckinghamshire without a car has never been more difficult. Bus services have been cut and those that remain are often unreliable.
Only by increasing the number of sustainable transportation options across Buckinghamshire and the Milton Keynes City Region can we bring our rural and urban communities together and improve air quality locally.
As your MP, I will:
· Fight to make permanent the £2 bus fare cap that connects Buckingham with Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, Oxford and Bedford.
· Campaign for local government to be given powers to run local bus services that allows people to travel between our towns and villages affordably.
· Lobby for more investment in our railway industry — backing the extension to Aylesbury in the East-West Rail line and fighting the closure of Bletchley’s ticket office.

Crack down on crime
The Conservatives lost control of crime. Our Tory Thames Valley Police & Crime Commissioner keeps hiking the Police Tax, yet crime keeps rising. Our Labour Government is serious about making sure everyone feels safe on the streets.
We need a clear plan that not only tackles anti-social behaviour, violent and sexual offences, and rural crime, but address the root causes of crime too.
As your MP, I will:
· Campaign to increase the numbers of police officers where we need them, so that we confront anti-social behaviour and violent crime at known hotspots such as the Westcroft District Centre, Queensway and the Blue Lagoon.
· Lead the campaign to give the police and local businesses the support they need to fight the growing pattern of shoplifting and violence in our local retail stores - so that no-one feels unsafe to go to work.
· Lobby our Thames Valley Police & Crime Commissioner to produce a concrete plan which reduces the caravan, motorhome and farming equipment thefts that are negatively impacting our rural communities.
