Hi there, I'm Callum.

I am privileged to serve as the Labour Member of Parliament for the Buckingham and Bletchley constituency. Below is a little more about me…

Local roots

I was born in Luton and grew up in nearby Dunstable. My mum brought me up alone in a council flat, while she worked shifts in Morrisons. I went to local comprehensive schools and depended on local public services.

Getting by on a low income, life wasn’t always easy. I watched my mum painstakingly manage her monthly wages to pay the bills, put food on the table and give me as many opportunities as she could. Through her example, she taught me the values of hard work, perseverance, and to aspire for a better life for myself and my community.

Labour Governments transform lives — I know because it transformed mine

But I was lucky. My childhood coincided with the last Labour Government. It was thanks to that Government which invested in families like mine — through establishing the minimum wage, introducing tax credits and record investment in our local state schools — that I was part of a Labour legacy which lifted a million children out of poverty and enabled me to be the first in my family to go to university.

That commitment to tackling inequality, giving dignity to work and making a first-class education a right for every child is what inspired me to join the Labour Party at the age of 18.

The Conservatives failed Buckingham and Bletchley

Fast forward to the brink of the 2024 general election, and Britain was back to square one. The Tories failed ordinary working people in the Buckingham and Bletchley area repeatedly over 14 years in Government. Following the election, the Labour Government has inherited a country where the cost of living is on the rise, yet wages are standing still. More people than ever are in insecure work and it is clear that our public services are at breaking point.

Council flat kids like me in places like Buckingham, Bletchley, Winslow and Tattenhoe have never faced a steeper mountain to climb. Tory incompetence has robbed every parent and family of a simple wish: to give their child things they were never able to have. We now have a change of Government and a chance to change things. I will work hard every day as your Member of Parliament to provide more opportunities so that every individual, family and community can live a better life.

It’s time for a fresh start

Families in Buckingham and Bletchley deserve better. Our Labour Government is on your side. We are committed to spreading opportunity to every part of the country so that everyone has the chance to get a job that pays a decent wage, the ability to send their children to a great local school and the possibility of owning an affordable home.

I’m ready to go

On the lead-up to the election, I listened to residents, businesses, faith groups and all kinds of civil society organisations to get their views about how we do things differently in the Buckingham and Bletchley constituency, and get the best for our communities.

I want to keep these conversations going, so that we can build a better future together. It is the honour of my life to serve as a Member of Parliament, and I promise I will do everything I can to support my local area and every resident in it.
