Reflections on Ukraine

As many of you will be aware, this week marks the third anniversary of Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine. My thoughts are with all our local Ukrainian residents and their families. I can assure you that as your Member of Parliament: I will always stand with Ukraine.

With Parliament back in session this week, I could not be at the ‘heartbroken not unbroken’ event at the Church of Christ the Cornerstone, but I know our community will come together, as we always do. Over 1,500 Ukrainian families have been supported across Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire, and I cannot be prouder of the kindness and generosity shown by individuals and families. Here is a short video I recorded for the event.

As mentioned, I am now back in Westminster representing you. With Parliament in recess last week, I got to do my favourite part of the job -  getting out and about and listening to local people. Do read the rest of this newsletter for a quick run down of my meetings and what I’ve been up to.

If you’d like to chat or would like me to visit your local business, charity or organisation, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. After all, I am here to serve you.

Local visits

Elsewhere in the constituency this week I:

  • Engaged with Buckinghamshire farmers (pictured) on issues relating to taxation, HS2 works, and food security.

  • Held several meetings with local NHS colleagues on how we can improve patient services.

  • Spoke about what actions our Government is taking to halve violence against women and girls at our local Soroptomists branch.

  • Attended Winslow’s and Gawcott’s Parish Council meetings.

  • Tried my best at playing the drums in the Rhythm Room and assured their owners I will always support our local independent businesses.

  • Held a constituency surgery in Newton Leys.

  • Sampled some delicious treats at the Buckingham Food Fair. I’m still feeling full!
