Callum’s Catch Up 05.11.24
Welcome to my very first catch up!
I am hoping that this weekly catch up will help raise awareness of what I have been up to both in Westminster and across Buckingham, Bletchley, Tattenhoe, Winslow and all of the many wonderful villages in between.
I promised that I would be an accessible MP, and I hope that through this update you can get a greater understanding of how I am serving you and what my priorities are as your elected representative. Do take a look through the below stories, and if there is anything I can help you with - please pop me an email (and do bear with the team and I as we get to grips with our roles and new systems).
Looking ahead to the rest of this week, I’m looking forward to attending remembrance services with local veterans and visiting the powerful For Your Tomorrow exhibit at Stowe Gardens. This year marks the 80th anniversaries of the momentous battles and turning points of the Second World War. The lives lost and the dedication of the Bletchley Park codebreakers closer to home are at the forefront of my mind, as are the millions of people around the world who are currently trapped in conflict.
In Parliament, we are concentrating on implementing the Budget, with debates happening across the week. As a Government we have had to make some tough decisions, but we have done everything we can to ensure the Budget is as fair as possible whilst also fixing the foundations of the economy and improving our public services. Click here for a snapshot story in MKFM, and here to read more substantial thoughts from me - including on farming and agriculture.

Pension Credit Surgeries
I’m hosting two Pension Credit Surgeries with local charities on November 15. There’s no need to register, just come along on the day.
Times and locations:
11:30 - 13:00, Buckingham Town Council Chamber: Cornwalls Meadow, Buckingham, MK18 1RP
16:00 - 17:30, Frank Moran Centre; 12 Melrose Ave, Bletchley, Milton Keynes MK3 6PA
Across the UK it is estimated there are over 800,000 eligible pensioners in the UK not claiming Pension Credit, and I am committed to helping as many people as I can locally to receive the help that they are entitled to.
I’d also like to remind readers that Milton Keynes City Council have updated their Local Welfare Provision page to reflect that it is now open for approaches from people who are between 1p and £1,000 per year over the income level to qualify for Pension Credit.
Local visits
Over the past week I:
Met with the Milton Keynes City Council’s CEO, as well as senior staff at Milton Keynes University Hospital alongside the two other Milton Keynes MPs to discuss the Government’s devolution agenda, the New Hospital Programme and the Budget.
Canvassed locally to speak with voters about the Budget and other local and national issues.
Witnessed a fantastic victory at Buckingham FC (the less said about MK Dons’ scoreline at the weekend the better…)
Visited Boycott Farm (see picture), to chat about how I can best support our local farming and agriculture businesses.
In Westminster
Back in Westminster I:
Spoke in the Budget debate and shared why I am so pleased to see investment in infrastructure such as East West Rail.
Received answers on questions I submitted relating to Milton Keynes University Hospital Foundation Trust.
Voted in favour of the Great British Energy Bill at its third reading to enable our country to become a clean energy superpower.
Took part in a CityAM roundtable on the Budget.
Contributed to the inaugural All Party parliamentary Group on Farming.
Attended a National Farmers Union Breakfast meeting ahead of my participation in their Food and Farming Fellowship programme for rural MPs.
