Now the real work begins…

There’s lots to do, and we’re just getting started

As I am writing this, I have officially been the Member of Parliament for Buckingham and Bletchley for less than three months and have only began voting in the House of Commons over the past couple of weeks. It’s been an absolute whirlwind, and it is a huge privilege to be Buckingham and Bletchley’s new Labour MP.

We are working towards a decade of national renewal and already Labour is putting through legislation that will make people’s lives better. I’ve voted to create more family-friendly workplaces, for a rail network that is fit for the future and to establish Great British Energy so that bills can be cut for good. It’s going to take a lot of hard work to undo the damage done by 14 years of Conservative decline, but our vision to rebuild this country is clear.

Outside of Westminster, I have been getting out and about across the area. I do not want to be an MP you only see at election time. I know how important it is to hear directly from you, and I am always striving to deepen my understanding of local issues.

I’ve popped by local pubs, schools and community fairs and loved speaking to different communities. The Buckingham Dog Show was a definite highlight – who can resist a cute puppy? Follow me on Facebook, Twitter (X) and Instagram to see in real time what I’ve been up to, and please do invite me to your upcoming events and meetings.

On a more serious note, I know that trust is earned, and not won. I promise that I will work tirelessly to support every individual, community and family in Buckingham, Bletchley, Tattenhoe, Winslow and the many villages in between. I am doing my best to get back to constituents and civil society organisations as quickly as I can but do bear with me whilst I assemble a team, set up an office and find my feet.

There’s lots to do, and we’re just getting started…

Callum
